Hurricane Harvey has been no stranger to the public in the last couple of days. The hurricane has inundated Houston, leaving residents stranded on their roofs and homeless.
The storm has brought destructive rain to Texas’ largest cities such as; Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Louisiana. Buildings and families have been ripped apart, pets are being left behind and the total of deaths are rising as the days go by. So much tragedy has taken over Texas and the people of social media are doing everything possible to make sure that people are safe by; sharing contact details of people going around in boats to save as many as they can and safer places where both people and pets can be taken to.

One celebrity in particular is using his name and his position to impact the issue through social media. Kevin Hart. Kevin took to Instagram on Monday to announce the challenge of asking his friends to donate $25,000 to his hurricane relief fund, in order to save Texas and the people stuck in it.
“I think we’ve participated in a lot of challenges on the Internet. Some meaningful, some meaningless, but we’ve all done ’em. At this point this is a serious matter. I think that people are in bad shape and they need help. I’m going to lead the charge and step up this way.” – Kevin Hart
Kevin challenged Jay-Z, Beyonce, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Steve Harvey and Dwayne Johnson amongst others to donate.
Chris Brown shared a video on Twitter Monday, to share the message of what Kevin Hart is doing and encourage his fans to do the same. Chris Brown donated $100,000 to Kevin’s donation website – making his donation the largest amount so far.

“Kevin Hart, I accept your challenge. We need to come together. I’m donating $100,000. So man, this is for everybody in Texas, the relief and everything. I implore and encourage everybody else, who can change and make a change for this, to please donate and help out.”
Chris did question whether the money would go where it is really needed, and Kevin spoke out about this by saying, “I will be able to track this money and make sure that it is being used properly.” He is most certainly not going to let this money fall in to the hands of the wrong people. We will make Texas a save place to live again!
DJ Khaled, T.I and Nicki Minaj also accepted the challenge and donated the full 25k.

Dwayne Johnson has also encouraged everybody to donate even just ‘a buck or two’ and shared that he and his family had got stuck in Hurricane Andrew, 1992.
Me and my family know what you’re going thru. We survived the eye of Andrew and became stronger – so will you. – Dwayne Johnson.
