Metal Rabbit Productions will bring a bold revival of Phil Porter’s critically acclaimed play Blink to the King’s Head Theatre this spring, directed by Simon Paris, director of the hit show …Earnest?.
Blink is a two-hander that explores themes of seeing and being seen, updated for an age of livestreams, video doorbells, and online stalking. It will star Broadway World award-winner, actress and playwright Abigail Thorn, who recently featured in HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. Further casting will be announced in due course.
Sophie has just lost a parent. So has Jonah. Sophie has just inherited quite a lot of money. So has Jonah. After a series of uncanny coincidences, the pair find themselves living on top of one another, in two small flats in Leytonstone. Then on a whim, Sophie mails Jonah a baby monitor connected to her flat. And he starts to watch her. Reading. Playing video games. Eating. Watching TV. Without ever coming face to face, something almost like love starts to bloom between them.
Sofi Berenger (Executive Producer and CEO at King’s Head Theatre and Executive Producer at Metal Rabbit Productions) said of the show: “I couldn’t be more excited about this new season of work – it feels like a real landmark moment and an indication of the work we wanted to see on our stage when we opened the new building. This new season feels like a testament to the bold, brilliant shows and incredible artists we’ve been lucky enough to work with over the past two years. The momentum we’ve built is finally starting to come to fruition and this season feels like a celebration of that journey.”
She added: “On a personal note, I’m thrilled to be producing Blink through my own company, Metal Rabbit Productions, and to be collaborating once again with the phenomenal Abigail Thorn after our hit show The Prince in 2022.
“I’m also incredibly proud that the King’s Head Theatre is able to start producing again, thanks in large part to our Angels of Angel production fund which is enabling both in-house and co-produced work to flourish. It’s especially exciting to see members of our own team stepping independently into producing roles too, such as Zoe Weldon for Lidless Theatre, who produced in the space this year. There’s a real sense of ambition and ownership running through everything right now and I can’t wait to share it all with audiences.”
Director Simon Paris said: “Ever since I first saw Blink, it’s stuck with me. I love the tension the play holds, walking a tightrope between tenderly nice and unsettlingly creepy. As a continuation of my work as a theatre-maker, it’s the perfect piece to explore the relationship between audience and performer. On a personal note, I’ve wanted to work with Abi in a directing capacity since she first participated in some acting workshops I ran back in 2018.”
Blink runs from 18 February – 22 March, 2026 at King’s Head Theatre, London. Tickets are available now.
