KYL has released his newest single ‘Slow Down’.
Since leaving the X Factor with his brother Joshua Brooks, KYL released his first solo track ‘Slow Down’ on January 18th. The singer has been posting previews of the track as well as advertising it on Instagram and Twitter.
KYL is from the small town of Penarth, which is where he was born and raised. He has been interested in music from a very young age and at nine years old he was able to play the drums and piano. KYL has gained inspiration from Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and Whitney Houston with their different musical genres. From these genres he has gone on to create his latest track ‘Slow Down’ which has a taste of soulful R&B with a twist of pop.
KYL speaks about the track and says that it comes from a personal experience early last year. The first verse of the track says ‘my reputation ain’t so good damn baby’, and KYL goes on to say that he has recently come out of a long term relationship and found it hard to be alone on his own after sharing his life with someone else for so long.
He went on to say, “I completely lost myself as a person, I didn’t know how to deal with it. I found myself talking to different girls all the time trying to replace my ex, and it got to a point where I was just hurting too many feelings with no intention of wanting anything serious at the time. I got to a place where I needed to just Slow Down, to not rush into anything and most importantly find myself.” KYL then said, “ We’ve all been there. I feel like ‘Slow Down’ relates to mostly everyone, we all go through breakups and have been in that place.”
