2019 is off to a great start for Lady Gaga. The 32-year-old singer and actress picked up her second Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for ‘Shallow’ (along with Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt) at the 76th annual awards ceremony on 6th January.
Gaga was also nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for her role as Ally Maine in ‘A Star Is Born’, with the film also being nominated for Best Motion Picture (Drama).
This is Gaga’s second Golden Globe – she previously won an award for Best Actress (Miniseries or Television Film) for her role as The Countess in ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ at the 73rd ceremony in 2016.
The singer was overwhelmed with emotion when receiving the award, and also mentioned how hard it is to be taken seriously as a female musician.
She also took to Instagram, to thank her ‘A Star Is Born’ co-star Bradley Cooper, who also performed on ‘Shallow’. “We are all so grateful Bradley loved ‘Shallow’, sang his heart out live and truly the song would not be revered as it is without the brilliant film and moment Bradley created”, she said.
Gaga also stole the show on the red carpet, wearing a stunning Valentino lavender dress which pays homage to the dress actress Judy Garland wore in the 1954 version of ‘A Star Is Born’. Gaga even wore matching lavender hair!
This is the first of possibly many awards Gaga will win this year – she is also nominated for five Grammy Awards at the 61st ceremony next month, and there is no doubt that she will be nominated for an Oscar (or more!) at the upcoming 91st Academy Awards.
