Congratulations are in order for our favourite Georgia girl, Lauren Alaina, today as she claims her first ever number one. Her latest single ‘Road Less Travelled’ has been climbing the Mediabase country charts since its release in October last year and has finally reached the top spot.

We first fell in love with Lauren’s beautiful voice back in 2011 when she appeared on American Idol. She blew us away week after week with her performances and went on to finish second in the competition. Viewers also loved that throughout her journey, Lauren was still her down to earth and bubbly self. Six years later this hasn’t changed and is one of the many reasons fans adore her.

Lauren celebrated the news with the following tweet, showing her goofy side is still there.

Apparently having the number one song in the country does not make you less of a dork. Forever on the #RoadLessTraveled #ohhhhh pic.twitter.com/KiXFHAutau

After taking a step back from the limelight to focus on her health and family, Lauren hit the studio to work on new material. She took the experiences in her life, and used them to pour her heart and soul in to her music. ‘Road Less Travelled’ is the lead single from Lauren’s second studio album of the same name, and has been her most successful to date. The song has a massively inspiring message, helping us all to believe in ourselves and love ourselves for who we are.

You can watch Lauren Alaina’s music video for ‘Road Less Travelled’ here:

We could not be more proud of Lauren for facing the stuggles she has in her life. She has come back from them stonger – both as a person and a musician. From the moment she auditioned in front of those judges we knew she was destined for great things. We might have had to wait over five years for her second album. However, it was well worth the wait and Lauren is finally getting the success she deserves.

You can keep up to date with Lauren by following her on Twitter, or Instagram. You can also give her Facebook page a like. If this is not enough for you, then check out our Snapchat bible here.
