Lauren Jauregui has not slowed down in any way following the announcement of Fifth Harmony’s hiatus in March of 2018. After opening up for the popular singer Halsey on part of her Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour, she was anything but hesitant to share her new and original music with fans. One song in particular, ‘Expectations,’ resonated with the various audiences she performed for and a studio version has been released as of October 24.
This song is Jauregui’s first release as a solo artist without a feature. Although she has been featured on a few different tracks which have gained popularity, including her song ‘In My Phone’ with boyfriend Ty Dolla $ign, it is undeniable that this is the next major step for the 22-year-old singer to take towards establishing her solo career in full.

Fans of Jauregui have been waiting patiently for this track, as well as others, ever since she performed it live while opening up with Halsey. The two stars had collaborated on a single called ‘Strangers’ which featured Jauregui and showed off her powerful vocals. Ever since then, many have been curious as to what she has been working on by herself. This song displays her effortless vocal power and her strength as a songwriter.
‘Expectations’ was originally set to be released on Oct. 12, but Jauregui decided she wanted to make changes to some final touches to the track before it was officially released. After the wait and change of release date, this single was even more anticipated than it was a few weeks ago. The ‘Expectations’ singer is not afraid to build up some suspense and her fans have been loving every second of it.

Her debut single is about having trouble with a relationship and trying to get through to a person. It touches on communication and respect. Jauregui has stated that communication is key in relationships and that is something that is personally important to her as well.
The melody of the song flows effortlessly and has a serious message for all of those listening to it. It’s raw, relatable and genuine. Sometimes mainstream music unfortunately tends to steer away from that and focus on lighter topics, but not with this single.
