Multi-Platinum singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Lauv, just released his new single and music video “Kids Are Born Stars”!
This track is the third single off of Lauv’s highly anticipated second full-length album, All 4 Nothing, which is set to be released on August 5th. In the music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Ariana Grande, Doja Cat), Lauv meets and connects with his younger self.
When Lauv started making this album, he was doing a lot of inner child meditation work.
“This song was me getting back in touch with my 8th grade self and giving him a little dose of confidence because Lord knows he would’ve needed it back then,” Lauv shared. “As an adult I had lost touch with my sense of confidence too and making this song and the whole album helped me get back in touch with the person I really am.”
With this new album, Lauv focused on the storytelling and crafted a unique body of work filled with moments of nostalgia, conflict, and self-empowerment.
“My album, All 4 Nothing, curates an energy of openness, wonder, and excitement, but also vulnerability and realness,” says Lauv. “I hope it opens up a vortex to something you haven’t felt in a while—a place where you can build yourself up from.”
Via an Instagram post, Lauv also said, “I heard somewhere that as kids, we’re all born with this innate confidence and ability to be stars in whatever right that might be, but along the way its easy to lose that as the world beats it out of us, and a lot of us forget. So I set out on a journey to find my confidence and where my “starpower” came from. That included things like therapy, meditation (lots of it), and at worse times, shortcuts in things like substances and drinking. That being said, one of the most powerful things I found was this thing called inner child meditation. Where you literally visualize yourself at a younger age and see what lessons, messages, or journeys this younger you may have for you. I literally had conversations with younger kid Ari, at different ages, on multiple occasions. One of those turned into the song “Kids Are Born Stars”, and a lot of the rest of it, helped me find my north star throughout the rest of the album writing process and life. sitting here today.”
“I would say I’m not fully healed (I don’t think one ever can be, and that’s not the point), but I’ve found a deeper connection with the true me and learned the confidence is all about accepting yourself exactly as you are, playing that to your strengths, and moving through life intimately with yourself. I can’t wait for you guys to hear the rest of this journey on this album, but next, I’m just so excited for you guys to hear “Kids Are Born Stars”, and watch the video.”
