Alt-pop artist Layto releases his new EP, ARRIVED, along with the music video for “MY HEAD,” a track from ARRIVED.

Layto explains, ‘“ARRIVED’ is metaphorical and literal. We just signed a label deal, things are in place career-wise, and it feels like all my time grinding and making music has finally arrived at a place sonically that feels entirely my own.”

Both the EP and the music video appear just prior to Layto setting off on his East Coast headline tour, which kicks off on October 20 in Washington, D.C.

Born and raised in Boston, Layto is the youngest of five children and got caught up in family turmoil and dysfunction. He found solace in music. Once he found his voice and developed his sound, Layto released his debut EP, Low Boy, featuring “Little Poor Me,” which amassed more than 50 million streams around the world. Layto recently surpassed 250 million combined streams.

Layto’s sound merges elements of alt-rock, pop, and hip-hop, along with profoundly intimate lyrics, giving expression to those who suffer from anxiety and depression.

Encompassing six tracks, ARRIVED begins with “MY HEAD,” rolling out on swirling tones topped by Layto’s evocative voice and dazzling flow. Riding a heavy trap rhythm, the tune ebbs and rises on gleaming washes of sound that elevate to reverberating muscle.

Entry points include “BACKFIRED,” vaguely reminiscent of Post Malone, full of melodic textures and vibrant, alluring vocals. A powerful kick drum gives the tune a walloping cadence.

“THRILLZ” rolls out on a fat, thumping rhythm as heavy layers of alt-rock travel overhead. When the tune descends, Layto’s powerhouse flow fills the lyrics with silky, creamy tones, as well as oomph-laced timbres. This might be the best track on the EP.

The last track, “Lost It,” features a low-slung, thrumming rhythm, while brawny guitars give the harmonics thick, grungy textures. Delicious vocal harmonies infuse the lyrics with sleek, lustrous tones.

Oof! Layto has it going on! ARRIVED pushes out a heady, electrifying blend of alt-rock, pop, and hip-hop flavors, capped by deluxe vocals.
