Little Mix are renowned for their empowering songs, for spreading positivity and encouraging self love. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to you that band member Leigh Anne shared a pretty empowering Instagram post recently. The Little Mix beauty, famous for her infectious optimism and passion for equality, uploaded some snaps from the video of the girls’ latest single Power, which features Stormzy. The track is well loved by fans for its uplifting message and has been taken to the hearts of many as another girl power anthem – something which Little Mix have become pretty good at writing.
The video is empowering, too, as it stars women of all shapes, sizes, races and skin colours, as well as members of the drag queen community. Leigh Anne’s scene in the video focuses on her love for fashion and aims to shine the spotlight on mixed race women and empower them. The photos she shared on Instagram show her posing in some killer knee high pink boots, surrounded by a group of fierce extras. The caption of the post was what mattered, though. She wrote a lengthy message to her followers to encourage them to feel happy within themselves and to love who they are.
She began by defining equality: “EQUALITY- noun the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities.”
She went on to explain how she believes everyone should be accepting of others, regardless of who they are, instead of discriminating against them: “People should not be discriminating and stereotyping others for the colour of their skin, race, gender, sexuality or religion. But instead loving and appreciating each other for the power of their minds and the kindness and love in their hearts.”
Leigh Anne ended the caption by summarising her journey to self love and how she came to accept herself. She urged all reading her post to unite, not divide, and to spread love as they learn to love themselves. “I know what it’s like to be wrongly judged to sometimes not feel like your good enough and you find yourself trying extra hard to make people like you. But what I realised is that your only ever going to be happy when you stop trying to gain approval and just be yourself and be happy with who you are and never listen to anyone telling you otherwise. I am so proud to be a woman, proud to be mixed race and I am urging everyone of all races, sexuality, gender and religion to unite, stand together, love one another and be proud of the skin your in. We all have the POWER to do that.”

As you would expect, Leigh’s comments section was flooded with praise and supportive messages from fans across the world who felt empowered by what she had written. We too felt empowered by the “Touch” singer’s beautiful words and admire her using her platform for good.
