Liam Payne; one quarter of the biggest boy band in the world. Singer, songwriter and an all-time wonderful man. However, one thing I have noticed is that Liam simply doesn’t get enough credit as he should. So, here’s an article to explain why I believe Liam should be given more praise.
1) He’s an incredible songwriter
If you’re in the One Direction fandom, you’ll be aware that both Louis and Liam are the two in the band that write the most for the albums. All the boys have strived to write more songs for each consecutive album in order to make it more them. This is highlighted in the transition between Take Me Home and Midnight Memories.
It’s easy to spot his exceptional skills – just look at the writing credits for Four (Deluxe). Payne co-wrote 10 out of 16 tracks which is an incredible achievement. These include hit singles Steal My Girl and Night Changes.
2) He has the voice of an angel
If you’ve never heard any of One Direction’s songs (I don’t know how you managed to escape them) I strongly advise you to listen to Drag Me Down now on iTunes/Spotify. On the other hand, if you have, you’ll know that each one of the boys has an individual sound, but all of their voices are brilliant. Liam himself has a vocal range from F#2-F5, meaning that he can sing 2 octaves, 6 notes and 1 semitone. Basically, he’s pretty amazing.
3) He’s a peacemaker
Liam has always been one to pick up the fandom at their low points. Whether it be due to some kind of conflict, some ridiculous rumour or simply anything bad he sees. He always tries his hardest to pick us up and act as a mediator to make us feel happy again. He even has to act as a negotiator between the boys at times (jokingly, of course).
4) He loves his fans
Out of all the members of One Direction, I think it’s fair to say that Liam is the one who interacts with fans the most. On Twitter, he follows 17.2 thousand people – the majority of these fans. He sees everything and isn’t shy when it comes to mentioning fans and, in general, making them feel loved.
5) He is so thankful for everything
It’s clear that Liam is so humble and grateful for everything that his fans have given him and allowed him to do. Never one to dismiss this, Liam thanks fans for all their hard work whenever he can. He sees artwork, videos and text posts, and receives them with such gratitude it makes my heart melt.
6) His live performances never disappoint
On many occasions Liam has been praised for delivering an outstanding show. He interacts with not only fans, but each of the other boys, too. With all his random but seemingly put together dance moves, he truly is a natural performer. His few mistakes never overshadow his unbelievable performance.
7) He is ridiculously charitable
Harry, Louis, Niall and Liam are all very generous when it comes to charity work, which is something that doesn’t get reported enough. They’ve previously done lots of work with Comic Relief to help create a better world and, more recently, worked with action/2015 to create the action/1D campaign to help get your voice heard. In fact, Liam recently donated over £50,000 to the Make a Wish charity just to get his face painted – plus several thousands of pounds more in bids against band mate Louis. He’s also an ambassador, alongside Harry, for Trekstock. What an angel.
8) He’s a bit dorky
It’s a fact. Payne is known for being a bit silly and acting like a fool at times but I wouldn’t have him any other way. His bubbly personality is one of the many things which makes him a truly extraordinary idol. Liam is also somewhat of a geek when it comes to superheroes, although I can’t help but find it adorable. Plus, I think the real superhero here is Liam, who has saved so many lives without the help of any superpowers.
9) He has a beautiful relationship
Liam has been in a relationship with Sophia Smith for roughly two years now and I’m still not over how insanely cute they are. Sophia is stunning and Liam’s affection for her is hard to not notice. By just looking at a photo of the two together you can see how in love they are. Liam supports and cherishes Sophia in every way possible and the way he treats her really shows how lovely he is, inside and out.
10) He doesn’t realise how phenomenal he is
Whether it’s his devilishly good looks, his hilarious jokes or his kind heart, Liam doesn’t know how breathtaking he is. He’s had such a huge impact on so many people’s lives and it’s only been for the better. Liam is a true inspiration to people across the globe and, trust me, you would only have to ask a few of his fans for confirmation. My wish is that one day Liam realises what an unbelievable person he is.
