Right now country music is the fastest growing genre of music in the UK, this is mainly thanks to homegrown sensations Ward Thomas, and The Shires. Both duos have gained mass critical and fan acclaim for their sublime music, and both acts have made and broken chart history. Ward Thomas last year became the first ever British country act to score a number 1 album on The Official UK Album Chart with their sophomore LP ‘Cartwheels‘, while The Shires are officially the fastest selling Brit country act of all time.
But, while The Shires, and Ward Thomas are spearheading the growth of the UK country scene, other homegrown acts are breaking through and earning success. Acts such as Jess and the Bandits, Carolynne, and Laura Oakes have all gained chart success over the past several years, but the most exciting new artist on the scene is Kevin McGuire.
McGuire is a rising country music artist from Scotland, he broke onto the scene earlier this year with the release of his fantastic debut EP ‘Foreign Country‘. The record contains singles ‘3AM’, and ‘Alright, Tonight’, and was a huge hit on the UK Country iTunes chart, peaking at number 2.
2017 has also seen Kevin McGuire who is currently unsigned, perform at the massive Nashville Meets London event, headline his first ever festival, and also play his first BBC Radio session. There’s no denying Kevin’s sublime talent, and raw country tone, and it seems only a matter of time before a record label snaps him up.
Proving his vocal ability, the rising star has showcased his distinctive tones by releasing a cover of The 1975’s huge hit ‘The Sound’. Kevin McGuire manages to put a country spin on the rock single, and his unique tone adds another level to the track.
