With less than a month to go until Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hits cinemas everywhere, Polydor Records is building up the excitement by unveiling some of the songs from the highly anticipated soundtrack.
We’ve already heard ‘When I Kissed The Teacher’, sung by Young Donna (Lily James) and her band The Dynamos (Alexa Davies and Jessica Keenan Wynn), as well as ‘Waterloo’ sung by Young Donna and Young Harry (Hugh Skinner). Now, we’ve been treated to ‘Fernando’, sung by none other than music legend Cher and Andy Garcia.
Cher has a cameo in the movie, playing Donna’s mum and Sophie’s grandmother. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the iconic artist revealed that she had little choice when it came to her new project. “My agent called me and said, ‘You’re in the new ‘Mamma Mia!’ film’ and then hung up.” she said. “I didn’t have much choice!”
Accompanied by Andy, Cher showcases her distinct voice during ‘Fernando’ and adds her own stamp to the famous song. Take a listen below.
‘Fernando’ is taken from the soundtrack to Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again which will be released on July 13. The album is available to pre-order now and the movie itself will be released on July 20.
