The first trailer for live-action film “The Little Mermaid” is out.
Before you start getting nostalgic though, it’s not the Disney’s Little Mermaid. This film is based off of the fairytale “The Little Mermaid” written by Hans Christian Andersen and is directed by Blake Harris and Chris Bouchard. Starring Shirley MacLaine, William Moseley, Poppy Drayton, Loreto Peralta, and many more talented actors, the film should hit theaters later this year.

The Little Mermaid: Poppy Drayton
The two-minute trailer begins with Shirley MacLaine telling a story of a mermaid (Could it be the mermaid many years later?). We see a young man (Moseley) who is confronted about a story of a mermaid at the circus. “Maybe it’s true maybe it’s not, but there’s definitely a story here…Pack your bags. You’re going.” His boss demands. He ventures off to Mississippi with his younger sister (Peralta) to see this “Little Mermaid of the Mississippi”
The moment Peralta meets the mermaid, the story takes off.
“Where I come from we have a fairytale about a little girl born on land, blessed with a heart of a mermaid” – The Little Mermaid
Moseley is definitely the Prince Eric of this film.
Although it may not be about a mermaid who loses her voice to an evil octopus-witch, It has another villain who’s intentions are just as cruel.
The trailer leaves us with enough to live off of for now.
We’re excited to see it in theaters! And we still hope Disney will come out with their live-action mermaid movie sometime soon.
