Lorde graced the Saturday Night Live stage this past weekend.
The New Zealand singer-songwriter performed her latest songs “Green Light” and “Liability.” The two freshly released tracks are off her upcoming sophomore album Melodrama.
Lorde’s first performance of her heartbreak-inspired single “Green Light” was full of intensity as she let loose and danced her heart out. “Liability,” a tearjerking ballad was much more reserved, showcasing a great deal of vulnerability while her producer Jack Antonoff played the piano.

This was Lorde’s first time as an SNL headliner. The 20-year-old performed with Disclosure for their musical guest spot back in 2015.
During a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Radio’s Beats 1 station, Lorde revealed that her soon-to-be-released record tackles what her journey of self-discovery has been like, which led to an entirely new sound.
“I moved out of home and all of a sudden I was kind of figuring out. Who am I when I’m alone? Who am I when I’m doing things just for myself? And I feel like you can really hear that on this record,” she explained. “It had to be really special and really singular, and it couldn’t sound the same as the old stuff.”
Melodrama is set to be released June 16.
