Lucie Jones will represent UK in Eurovision Song Contest 2017

Lucie Jones, the former X Factor contestant, will be representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. She will be performing  Never Give Up On You in the contest. As reported by the BBC,

“the song was co-written by Emmelie de Forest, the Danish singer-songwriter who won the song contest in 2013.”

Jones competed on the X Factor in the year 2009 and ended in eighth place. On Friday, she and five other X Factor contestants competed for selection into the contest. Apart from Jones, the other contestants were Danyl Johnson, Salena Mastroianni, Nate Simpson, Holly Brewer, and Olivia Garcia.

Jones was selected as a winner through a live voting programme on BBC Two. With tears in eyes, she expressed her joy and paid gratitude to the voters. She said, “I can’t believe you picked me – thank you so much”.
