Stars of Freeform’s hit TV show, “Pretty Little Liars,” are doing much more than just acting and running from creepy stalkers known as “A.” Lucy Hale and Ian Harding recently teamed up to raise money for not one, but two charities! The lovable costars decided to sell “ship” shirts to benefit Smile Train and The Lupus Foundation of America, and the results were amazing!
Hale and Harding took to social media to announce the sell of their charity tees in hopes to raise money for two important foundations. The pair decided to use their onscreen relationship, Aria and Ezra, better known as “Ezria,” to promote their cause. The shirts feature a promotional photo of the two from their show and the slogan “The Best Ship” bolded across the chest. It’s no secret that Ezria is one of the best PLL ships, so we couldn’t agree with their fabulous shirt design more!

Hale and Harding released the exclusive merchandise for two weeks only and continuously promoted the cause through fun Instagram posts and entertaining tweets. Harding has worked with The Lupus Foundation of America in the past, and wished to continue his work with them while also benefiting Smile Train. The Lupus Foundation of America “is devoted to solving the mystery of lupus, one of the world’s cruelest, most unpredictable, and devastating diseases…” while Smile Train “provides training, and funding to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair [surgeries].” Both the foundations are aimed at making the world a better place, and Lucy Hale and Ian Harding jumped at the opportunity to assist.
The shirts were a hit, and the PLL actors sold 3,345 “ship” tees, exceeding their goal of 1,000. On April 14th, Lucy Hale tweeted out her excitement about the success saying, “happy to announce that the $$ from me & Ians @represent shirts raised enough for 132 smile surgeries for @SmileTrain ! THANK U GUYS SO MUCH.”
Harding and Hale have wonderful hearts and are helping to make important changes in the world. Their successful campaign and persistence at helping those in need, should definitely not be overlooked, and we thank them for everything they have done.
