As she continues to move forward and embrace new beginnings, following the 2023 release of her memoir ‘Process’ and 7th studio album ‘Balance’, Lucy Spraggan teams up with one of her musical heroes this week, to once again share her truth in song.
In a brave move, Spraggan joins forces with pop megastar Robbie Williams to revisit her 2020 song ‘Sober’ – a vulnerable, and brutally honest pop ballad that chronicles the singers journey giving up alcohol.
Speaking of the song, Lucy comments via a press release: “I wrote ‘Sober’ about a week after I stopped drinking. I wanted to write a song that I could listen back to, whether that was in a month, six months or years, to remind me why I had made the decision to be sober. I never anticipated that nearly 5 years after I’d be releasing it as a duet with an all round inspiration of mine, both personally and professionally, Robbie Williams.”
“This song and it’s music video was originally released in 2021 and the comments on Youtube are from a community of people that resonate with the lyrics about why I needed to be sober. To know that Robbie Williams resonates with the song enough to sing it with me is an unbelievable feeling, not only as a song-writer but as a person that has struggled with substance abuse. This really is the highlight of my career so far and I am so thankful for all of the places that my sobriety has taken me”.
With Robbie adding: “I’ve been a fan of Lucy’s since I first heard her on X Factor in 2013. That year I mentored on the show, but sadly we never got to meet. I loved ‘Sober’ the first time I heard it, and I’ve really enjoyed working with Lucy on this new version of the song.”
