Fans of Lucy Spraggan are in for a real treat this week, with the beloved British singer/songwriter rush releasing her latest single ‘Unsinkable’ as well as announcing details of her upcoming 8th studio album ‘Other Sides Of the Moon’.
Following an incredible and unexpected sync for ‘Unsinkable’ on Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent, Lucy has released the track after it was featured as part of the montage following an audition by the choir made up of those affected by the Post Office Scandal.
BGT judge, and close friend of Lucy’s Simon Cowell, called her following the show to tell her the news and ask her if she had seen it… watch the pair’s conversation below:
Commenting on the surprise release, Spraggan says: “Some of you may have seen the incredible audition of The Post Office Scandal Choir on BGT last night, it was immensely emotional. It got more emotional for me as the brand new reworked version of ‘Unsinkable’ was played as the judges deliberated and the choir celebrated. This was a bit (a lot) surprise conspired by the wonderful Simon Cowell who called me straight afterwards to ask if I’d seen it. I said ‘OF COURSE I HAVE and everyone is calling and texting to say how amazing the audition was and that they heard my song!’ I also said ‘I want to grab this opportunity by the horns and think I should release ‘Unsinkable’ tonight…’ So, ‘UNSINKABLE’ is out NOW! A MASSIVE congratulations to the Post Office choir, what an incredible story.”
Of the song itself, Lucy adds: “Originally released in 2015, ‘Unsinkable’ has been a live favourite and part of every set list for over a decade. I wrote this song during a bout of depression, when it always felt like it was raining wherever I went. I had this vision of the rain carrying on and becoming so deep it might drown me and wanted to write something to remind myself and others of the resilience we all carry with us. This song has transformed for the new album, and in some ways, I feel like I’ve transformed with it. For me, rather than representing the dark days it represents hope.”

Set to be released later this summer, ‘Other Sides of the Moon’ is a collection of reimagined and reworked versions of some of Lucy’s most loved songs, plus brand-new, never-before- heard tunes.
Having worked closing with mentor Simon Cowell, who personally A&R’d and guided this album from a creative perspective, the record also features Spraggan’s stunning song ‘Sober’ featuring the icon Robbie Williams, as well as her debut hit ‘Tea & Toast’.
