After dominating charts across the globe last summer with his gargantuan hit ‘Despacito’, Luis Fonsi is ready to be crowned King of Summer once more with his brand new anthem.
‘Calypso’ is the Latin superstar’s latest offering, which sees him team up with UK rap sensation Stefflon Don. Written by Luis, Stefflon, Dyo, Mauricio Renfigo and Andre Torres, ‘Calypso’ is the ultimate summer bop, bursting with feel-good tropical vibes. There is no doubt that the infectious beat will be ingrained in your mind after just one listen, and will make you want to bust your very best moves.
Speaking about the track, Luis said: “I’ve been very excited about this song for a while now because of how it makes me feel every time I play it. Calypso for me represents fun, colors, Caribbean vibes, and beach, basically a good time. The song has a fresh sound…, an island sound and it plays again with three languages, Spanish, English and even a little bit of French.”
“When we went to the studio to record the track, I wanted to have a female voice that will give it that special touch and Stefflon Don was it. She is an incredible artist, super talented, her style and that combination of British accent with her Jamaican flavor was exactly what the song needed.”
Stefflon added, “This song is lit! You are going to keep repeating it every day, is not going to come out of your head. For me it’s an honor that Fonsi asked me to be a part of this track, I feel like it’s going to be a big situation.”
Luis and Stefflon have also released the music video for ‘Calypso’. Directed by Elastic People’s Creative Director Carlos Perez, who was responsible for the ‘Despacito’ visual (the most viewed YouTube video in history with over five billion views), the ‘Calypso’ visual was shot in the stunning Puerto Rico.
The visual is one big party which sees both the young and the old having the time of their lives. If this doesn’t want to make you hop on a plane and get your groove on at Palominito Island then we don’t know what will.

‘Calypso’ follows on from Luis’ previous single ‘Echamé La Culpa’ featuring Demi Lovato. Despite being released last November, the track is still enjoying success around the globe and has racked up over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
