As she prepares to release her debut album “Sorry I’m Late” next month, Mae Muller today (August 25th) reveals a whole new facet to her personality and character, with the unveiling of “MTJL” – a delicate, and introspective pop ballad the sees the 25-year-old singer/songwriter speak aloud her innermost vulnerabilities and insecurities.

Via a press release, Muller says of the acoustic track (an acronym of “Maybe that’s just life”): “I think it was really important for me to have a moment where it was just going to be really stripped-back, just me and a guitar. I just wanted it to be a diary entry – I wasn’t worried about the usual verse, pre-chorus, chorus structure of the song as such, I just wanted to get it off my chest.”

“I feel like as humans we’re very good at being hard on ourselves and we all want what we can’t have, so this track was just a big outpouring of all my insecurities. I definitely have a lot but I’m learning to accept them, it’s what makes us human. I think this is probably the best song I’ve written lyrically, and I’m very proud of it.”

    Listen to “MTJL” below:

Scheduled to drop Friday, September 15th, “Sorry I’m Late” is described as being a love letter devoted to fans, who have stuck by her during a period of growth and self-discovery.

Made up of 17-tracks, including the singles “Better Days”, “I Just Came To Dance”, “Me, Myself & I” and Eurovision BOP “I Wrote A Song”, the deeply personal record will demonstrate Mae’s unique ability to capture the mood of her generation by celebrating the female experience at large.

Exploring themes of love and loss, dating and relationships with fearless honesty, songs on the album will see Muller confront her own experiences, whilst also capturing the broader frustrations faced by many young women today.
