Things we love: Summer, Food and MasterChef so combine the three and we are pretty much in heaven!
This summer, six MasterChef finalists will be showcasing their gastronomic magic at The Jam Shed Supper Club, a new rooftop event at London’s iconic Southbank Centre.
With spectacular London views of The Thames and the Shard as the ultimate dining backdrop, this is an opportunity to taste the culinary creations by some of Britain’s best up-and-coming world-class chefs in a unique way.
Six of the most exciting and culinary diverse, contestants from the popular cook-off show have crafted unique menus for the event. MasterChef finalists will each host a Supper Club to celebrate the flavours of the summer in their signature style. Steve Kielty, Nawamin Pinpathomrat, David Crichton, Alexandra Jorge, George Kallias, and Emma Spitzer will bring their exceptional talents to the St Paul’s Pavilion on the top floor of Royal Festival Hall.
Chefs serving at The Jam Shed Supper Club over the summer:
- 24 Jul – 4 Aug: Steve Kielty
- 7 Aug – 11 Aug: Nawamin Pinpathomrat
- 14 Aug – 18 Aug: David Crichton
- 21 Aug – 25 Aug: Alex Jorge and George Kallias
- 28 Aug – 1 Sep: Emma Spitzer
- 4 Sep – 8 Sep: Alex Jorge and George Kallias
To add to the vibrant setting, communal tables provide a fun-filled dining experience as guests come together with sharing dishes and small plates which will be matched with the fruit-filled flavours of Jam Shed Shiraz, amongst other beverages. A selection of inspired wine-based cocktails will be available including pre-dinner aperitifs on an outside terrace space; perfect for a summery sundowner.
Culinary delights that can be tasted include Nawamin’s Thai-influenced dishes, Alex and George’s ‘Portu-Greek’ offering influenced by their Portuguese and Greek-Cypriot backgrounds. Steve Kielty will kick things off with a two-week residency including highlights such as cured trout and Herefordshire brisket.
For Steve Kielty, finalist 2017, his return to Royal Festival Hall is in stark contrast to his previous visit; “Last time I came here it was in my capacity as a professional sound engineer to see DJ musician Goldie perform his Timeless album with the Heritage Orchestra in 2015. Never in a million years did I imagine three years on I’d be fronting up a pop-up supper club, on the top floor, cooking and playing my favourite summer tunes to a room full of hungry and hopefully, musically like-minded diners.”
In addition to having a fun night out with friends and family, diners will be supporting The Springboard Charity, which brings disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism. The Springboard Charity trainees are working with contestants in both the kitchen and front -of- house to learn essential skills and help you enjoy your night.
