Electronic music artist Matt Barri recently dropped his lush, feel-good future bass single, “You Are Here,” full of ricocheting synths, rich melodies, and potent drops.
Matt explains, “‘You Are Here’ is the place you were when you fell in love with dance music. I wanted to channel my inner dreamer with this tune, feeling nostalgic and dreamy, but hopeful. It’s about growing and evolving and still having acknowledged where you started on your journey.”
“You Are Here” follows on the heels of Matt’s two previous releases in 2023, “Everything To Me” and “I’m In Space When You’re Worlds Apart,” both of which received rave reviews from elite outlets.
Matt began his musical journey at the age of four, studying violin, then quickly moved on to guitar, drums, keyboards, and eventually music theory. His grandfather, Steve Barri, was an acclaimed songwriter and producer throughout the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Matt has blossomed into a talented, innovative artist, balancing and utilizing his full array of skills as a songwriter, producer, and DJ.
As a performer, Matt has DJ’d internationally and domestically, sharing the stage with artists such as Steve Aoki, Lil Jon, and Wooli. He’s also written original music for various documentaries, industrials and even dabbled in sound design for consumer products and toys. Recently selected as one of the Top 40 Artists To Watch in 2023 by YourEDM, Matt’s sound continues to evolve as he cements his place in the pop/electronic landscape.
Opening on throbbing, emerging tones, “You Are Here” flows into a powerful, mid-tempo rhythm, pressing with contagious dance momentum. Swirling colors glide overhead, followed by a shimmering drop, introducing Matt’s velvety, alluring voice, at once dreamy and evocative.
A thrumming bridge leads to thick, shifting walls of synth surfaces, giving the tune a fluctuating wall of sound effect.
Drenched in infectious layers of harmonics riding a captivating rhythm, “You Are Here” reveals the tour de force creativity of Matt Barri.
