Max & Harvey are turning inward on their latest release. The brother duo have today (October 2nd) unveiled ‘Overthinking’, an introspective new single that explores the complexities of an overactive mind – and the doubts that can slowly unravel something that once seemed perfect.

The track follows their previous single ‘Fractured’, continuing a new chapter of artistic growth for the duo as they delve further into more personal and emotionally candid territory.
Written from Harvey’s own experience, the captivating track centres on the uncertainty that can accompany falling in love for the first time. What begins with all the optimism and excitement of a fresh relationship gradually gives way to doubt, as seemingly insignificant warning signs become increasingly difficult to ignore.
As one alarm bell follows another, the song captures that uneasy feeling of knowing something isn’t quite right, even when everything appears fine on the surface. It is a battle between instinct and emotion – between what the heart wants to believe and what the mind is beginning to question.
That emotional spiral is reflected in the song’s production, with ‘Overthinking’ building in intensity as its protagonist becomes increasingly consumed by their own thoughts. Every detail is analysed, every feeling scrutinised and every unanswered question given more weight, ultimately leading to the realisation that something once viewed as perfect may actually be holding you back.
Commenting on the song, Harvey says: “‘Overthinking’ is me really getting inside my own head. It’s the most honest and intimate we’ve ever been with our songwriting, and it gets to the crux of a real experience I went through. It’s about the realisation that, while everything seems ok on the surface, there’s an underlying feeling that something’s not quite right. Like an itch that’s not quite scratched, something isn’t making sense, but you can’t quite put your finger on why.”
With Max adding: “We’re incredibly driven by sound, sometimes even more than lyrics, so we spent so much time designing how the song evokes those feelings: feeling overwhelmed, reading into things and eventually realising that something that once seemed perfect might actually be the thing dragging you down. It’s intense, and it’s meant to be.”
For Max & Harvey, the release marks another step forward in a year that has already seen them embrace their story and evolution as artists.
Ten years after first finding fame through singing videos online, the twins are entering a new era on their own terms – one that places greater emphasis on lived experience, emotional honesty and the stories behind the music.
The single arrives just weeks before the brothers are to due to embark on ‘In A Decade’, their first UK tour in 4 years, celebrating a decade of “music, memories and moments shared with their fans”.
Kicking off on Monday, October 26th at Liverpool’s O2 Academy, the tour will then visit Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and London.
