Melanie C is embracing uncertainty head-on. The Spice Girls icon has released a new solo single, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’, a sharp, self-aware track that leans into risk, resilience, and the thrill of stepping into the unknown.

Built on propulsive beats and a sleek pop-electronic backbone, the song finds Mel C in familiar but refreshed territory – confident, reflective, and unafraid to poke fun at the chaos that comes with chasing instinct over certainty. Lyrically, the track balances irony with empowerment, framing vulnerability not as a weakness, but as a necessary leap forward.

Speaking about the new track, the ‘Never Be The Same Again’ singer reveals, “‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ is the second single from my upcoming album, written and recorded in Stockholm with the brilliant Klas Åhlund and Nea gives this track that distinctive Swedish sound. We had a lot of fun working on this song and discussing the light and shade of music and life. It’s a tongue in cheek look on taking risks and trusting yourself to take that leap anyway. I think a lot of people will relate!”

Listen to ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ below:

Taken from her upcoming 9th studio album ‘Sweat’, the release continues a run of creative independence for the artist, who has spent the past several years carving out a distinctly personal lane in modern pop. Rather than leaning on nostalgia, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ sounds rooted in the present moment – club-ready but thoughtful, polished without losing its edge.

Available to pre-order now, the album ‘Sweat’ will be released in partnership with Melanie’s own independent label Record Girl Records, and Virgin Music Group, marking the start of a new chapter in the Spice Girl’s solo career.

Melanie C said of the new brand collab: “I’m thrilled to be releasing my new music with Virgin Music Group. It feels like a homecoming after the successes we shared working together with Spice Girls and my first two solo albums. They are paving the way for more artist-led deals and have an incredibly strong international team. I’m really excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Melanie will headline O2 Academy Brixton on October 23rd, 2026, marking a major live moment in the Sweat era. Today (January 29th) also sees the announcement of a run of in-store / out-store shows across the UK, including London’s Union Chapel and St. Mary’s Church in Nantwich this April. Album and ticket bundles for these events will go on sale via respective retailers’ online stores this Friday at 10am HERE.
