Melissa McCarthy is without doubt one of the funniest women Hollywood has ever seen, her comic timing is impeccable and she is a comedic genius.
The 45-year-old has dominated the box-office for the past five years, after her big movie break in the huge hit ‘Bridesmaids’ back in 2011, since then the T.V and film actress has starred in some of the biggest comedy hits each year.
In 2014 she starred in the blockbuster hits ‘The Heat’ alongside another Hollywood legend Sandra Bullock and also topped the box office with her comedy ‘Identity Thief’, both movies made a combined $403.9m worldwide, cementing McCarthy’s place as the best female comedy lead.
The hit movies from the Mike and Molly star didn’t stop there, back in 2014 she starred in ‘Tammy’ which was written and produced by Melissa and her husband Ben Falcone, and also proved that she can do drama with her role in ‘St Vincent’, these films made a combined $155.3m worldwide.
2015 saw the biggest success of McCarthy’s movie career with ‘Spy’, which raked in a huge $235.7m worldwide. Other films starring the comedy actress such as ‘Bridesmaids’ have earned more at the box-office, but ‘Spy’ is the most successful film which lists the star as their lead.
And now Melissa McCarthy has topped the US box-office’s once again with her self written and produced hit ‘The Boss’, which has earned $44.3m since its release last week.
Cementing herself as a true icon of comedy, the funny lady became the first ever female to win ‘Comedic Genius’ at the MTV Movie Awards.
And not only is Melissa a true Hollywood legend she is also a successful TV star, with her huge hit ‘Mike and Molly’ and also a fashion designer.
The actress is a true inspiration to women everywhere.
