Miley Cyrus gets personal on heartbreaking new track ‘Slide Away’

Miley Cyrus has surprised fans with a heart-wrenching new track called ‘Slide Away’.

Written by Miley, ALMA, Andrew Wyatt and Mike Will Made It (with the latter two also credited for production), ‘Slide Away’ is an emotional release from the global superstar which comes just days after it was revealed that she has separated from her husband Liam Hemsworth.

“Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost, so it’s time to let it go”, Miley sings during the poignant track, which reflects on letting go and accepting that it’s time to move on from a relationship. In the melancholic chorus, she asks: “So won’t you slide away? Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights”.

Offering a reflective, personal and heartfelt release, Miley shows her growth as a person and an artist during ‘Slide Away’. Listen to the track below.

‘Slide Away’ is a far cry from Miley’s most recent release, the EP She Is Coming, including its lead single ‘Mother’s Daughter’. Whilst the track is seemingly inspired by her personal life, it also reminds us that Miley is a fierce artist who is never afraid to be take charge and reinvent herself.

‘Slide Away’ is available to download and stream now.
