Miley Cyrus was chosen as the latest celebrity to help James Corden get to work, in his latest Carpool Karaoke series.
As soon as Miley had gotten herself comfy in the car and the pair had said their hellos, James immediately kicked the journey off with Miley’s 2013 hit ‘We Can’t Stop’. Miley then asked James if he created the carpool karaoke series because of how good of a driver he is, which then lead to a hilarious and embarrassing story from Miley about her own driving; including her own car, the sound trailer from The Voice set and a lot of windshields being cracked. She then went on to say that she confronted her fellow judges Adam and Blake about the crash, not realising that her mic had already been set up… Awkward!
After James had a little giggle at Miley’s driving story, the two of them went straight in to singing one of Miley’s most iconic songs ever to be released, ‘The Climb’. James then used Miley’s legendary tongue to stick a few stamps onto his letters before they both started jamming out to another iconic song released in 2009, ‘Party in the USA’.
James decided to get deep with Miley and asked her, “What has the biggest change in your life been, where you were at the VMA’s and where you are today, what have you changed in your life?” Miley responded with such a beautiful answer, that we just couldn’t not share it with you here!
“I think the first VMA’s, 2013, twerking, Robin Thicke, lead me to being the activist I am now because I realised if that many people were gunna talk about something that I did or something that I do, I should make it a good thing. And I should make it something that can change peoples lives, rather than be a controversial conversation that does nothing but become a fun Halloween costume for people. I think there was something when I first, yanno kind of stopped doing Hannah Montana, it was saying “I’m not that! I want you to know who I really am!” But I love that that was me and is a part of me, and I think I’ve allowed that childhood self to shine through a little bit more because I’m not trying to run away from it. I’m down to embrace it and I think that’s good for everyone, they should embrace who they used to be because that made you who you are now.”
After such an outstanding speech about embracing our childhoods, Miley and James begin to sing Miley’s most recent and well fitted single ‘Younger Now’. They then treated us to an incredibly emotional performance of ‘Wrecking Ball’, where Miley gave James the inside scoop of what she was thinking about in order to make her cry in the music video which was her puppy Floyd, who sadly passed away in 2014.
The duo finished off the Carpool Karaoke with a beautiful performance of Miley’s debut single from her sixth album, ‘Malibu’. Miley showed off some killer high notes which left James completely shook and they finally made it to the set of The Late Late Show.
