During the quarantine many of us felt alone, bored and isolated. Singer-songwriter Miranda Joan felt the same at times and she turned these dark feelings into the inspiration behind her latest single. The song called “Kiss A Stranger” is the latest off of her upcoming sophomore album Overstimulated due out November 10th.
“Kiss A Stranger” is a sonic fantasy all about escapism, hedonism and fun. Joan confides, “It was almost a year into lockdown, I’d left New York, moved back to Vancouver, Canada, my career was indefinitely on pause, I was single and living in a studio above the garage at my mother’s house. After twelve years, I was back home, in the woods and isolated. What I wanted was to reach out and touch somebody. Anybody. I yearned for connection; for physical touch, and found a deeper appreciation for the simple joy and freedom of meeting someone new.” The song feels like an open embrace with warm sultry vocals, dreamy musical backdrops and hopeful lyrics. Miranda Joan effortlessly expresses the emotions many of us have felt in this dark time, making the song a cathartic listen.
