Canadian singer. songwriter and musician Miranda Joan is known for her effortless blend of pop, soul, R&B and electronica and “Overstimulated” is no exception. The track is the first single off of her upcoming LP.
“Overstimulated” is a relatable song about post COVID re-openings and the excitement that ensued. Joan shares, “In what felt like a blink of an eye, everything opened up and here we were, hermited heathens, given keys to the city. The energy was intense and, having spent so much time in isolation, when things finally came back and we were able to socialize again, I was overcome with urgency. I wanted to do it all, I wanted contact, I wanted to be around people, I wanted to be seen, I wanted to feel.” Riveting simmering beats pulsate below soaring harmonies and soul-drenched decadent vocals.
In the accompanying visuals, Miranda Joan is seen on the world famous Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Shot by Vida Fodona and styled by Brazilian fashion brand Santa Maria, the video was filmed during Carnival which personified “overstimulation” for Miranda Joan. She hopes the visuals and single’s narrative will inspire others to celebrate being in their own skin.
Miranda Joan first began releasing music in 2017 with her debut single “Still”. Her recently released album Windborne received critical acclaim and Joan continues to become an artist to watch performing alongside heavy hitters including Lorde and Shawn Mendes.
