As much as we will miss Pia Wurtzbach as our Miss Universe, we are happy to congratulate Iris Mittenaere from France as the newly crowned Miss Universe 2016!
The most beautiful competition in the universe took place today at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines, where 86 candidates competed for the coveted title.

The show was hosted by Steve Harvey, who was constantly joking about the unforgettable crowning moment of the former queen, Pia Wurtzbach, as Miss Universe last year in Las Vegas, Nevada. On the other hand, Ashley Graham brought real-time updates from the candidates backstage completing the Miss Universe 2016 coronation night.

Iris, otherwise known as Miss Universe France, is originally from Lille in the Nord-Pas de Calais region in northern France. She is currently pursuing a degree in Dental Surgery and is currently in her fifth year of studies.
Besides her passion for promoting dental and oral care around the world, our Miss Universe 2016 loves to cook and do extreme sports like sky-diving and hang-gliding.

Swimsuit Competition
Miss France chose to wear a pink swimwear for the preliminary stage of the competition paired with nude stilettos.
Evening Gown Competition
For the preliminary evening gown portion of the pageant, Iris looked stunning in a yellow, sparkly off-shoulder dress.
Crowning Moment
Miss France was shocked and emotional during her crowning moment and first walk as Miss Universe 2016.
While Iris won the crown this year, Miss Colombia came in as 2nd runner-up and Miss Haiti as the 1st runner-up.
