Rising British music sensation Native James breaks new ground, and unashamedly states his truth with the release of his new single ‘Hammer’.
Filled with a torrent of arresting guitar sequences, and antagonistic drums, the electrifying track sees the Ipswich native combine his distinctive “rumbustious rap style and a filthy riff”, to produce a ferocious, yet compelling hip-hop / rock BOP that serves as the ultimate declaration of freedom and independence.
Commenting on the empowering track, the captivating star says: “‘Hammer’is my own rallying cry about who I am and what I’mabout… it’s not to say I want everyone to scream along with my lyrics and get behind me and my mission, but rather to be shouting the words along thinking about their own version of what I’m saying – how they relate – their anger, their frustration, their mission, their identity… it’s meant to incite the community’s inner voice and to make it louder to build a community and make the people feel empowered my tribe… the tribe of native.”
In a bid to further bring both his artistic vision, and mission statement to life, Native shares the singles accompanying music video produced by Grade A Productions, and directed by Reece Selvadorai (Dream McLean, Was VW, che Lingo).
Awash with a tangible sense of kinetic energy, the visuals flit between the rap/rock artist performing with his band in an old abandoned building, and James hooked up to wires and subsequently ripping them off in a rage.

Following his recent signing with Essex-based, artist-led indie collective Savour Music, Native James (real name Aaron James) is an artist determined to make 2024 an unforgettable year!
Having first discovered he could freestyle, following a chance musical encounter as a teen when he was put on the spot and asked to “spit some bars”, James has dedicated his life to honing his craft since being a student in school.
Fusing elements of rap, grime, rock and metal, Native says he wants to “create a tribe”, and sees his fans as one big united family.
Using his live shows to create a space for his fans to feel empowered, and be a space for them to leave their worries at the door; to heal, to rage but most importantly, to engage, Native James welcomes you to the realm…
