NEEDTOBREATHE run through L.A. for “HAPPINESS” video

NEEDTOBREATHE has released the video for their single “HAPPINESS”.

The music video sees the cast – including the group themselves – running through the deserted streets of Los Angeles, California. It was directed by Noble Jones, someone who has previously worked with internationally acclaimed artists such as Taylor Swift, One Republic and Lady Antebellum.

NEEDTOBREATHE’s frontman, Bear Reinhart says that: “’HAPPINESS’ was a lot of fun to make…who doesn’t want to run around the streets of LA in the dead of night? It’s also the first video we’ve ever gotten to show off our athletic skills. You’re welcome America. #Rio2016”

The video on it’s own may seem dark at first due to it being filmed in the middle of LA’s deserted streets. However, with the group’s single being played and sung in the background, the mood shifts and turns this seemingly dark music video into a happy, inspirational and motivating one.

This is weird because if someone says “people running in the middle of a dark street”, one would imagine that these people are running away from something. And this was the case during the first half of the music video. But, on the second half, the cast and the crew of the music video managed to make it seem like the people are running towards something, towards a specific goal and that is, as the song implied, happiness.

In the middle of that, there is this one part that stood out. One of the cast was faced with a hindrance (a tall fence) during her journey. For us, this is a representation of the obstacles that we have to face in our lives before we get to the top. The girl climbed the fence and continued on with her journey which is what we all should do if we are ever faced with a difficult situation. We must face it and defeat it so that we can go forth and reach our dreams.

“HAPPINESS” is taken from their upcoming album H A R D  L O V E, to be released on July 15th through Atlantic Records. It follows 2014’s Rivers In The Wasteland, which became a global smash hit, debuting in the US Billboard Chart at #3, and topping both the Rock and Alternative album charts. It spawned two huge hit singles, Gold-selling ‘Brother (Feat. Gavin DeGraw)’ and the Grammy-nominated ‘Multiplied’, both of which gained UK airplay (the former landing itself on the BBC Radio 2 playlist).

The new album has seen the band delving into the world of electronic effects and instrumentation. The result: a sublimely crafted and expansive sound that still reflects the larger-than-life intensity of NEEDTOBREATHE’s unforgettable live show.

H A R D  L O V E is now available for pre-order on their official store as well as on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music. All purchases are accompanied by an instant download of “HAPPINESS” as well as album tracks, “MONEY & FAME”, “NO EXCUSES”, and the recently released “GREAT NIGHT”, which features fellow South Carolinians Shovels & Rope.
