Tim Bergling, who was known worldwide as the EDM star Avicii, tragically passed away April 20, 2018. Now, almost a year after his untimely death, his family have decided to share his unreleased music with the rest of the world.

Avicii’s family announced that an album titled “TIM,” will be released on June 6. The album will consist of songs the artist was working on before his death last year, which he had intended to be included on a new album. The first single, “SOS,” featuring Aloe Blacc on vocals will be released on April 10.

According to a statement released by Avicii’s team, Tim Bergling “left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music, which was released by the musicians representatives. “The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible.”

“Since Tim’s passing, the family decided not to keep the music locked away,” the statement also mentions. “Instead they wanted to share it with his fans all around the world.”

The proceeds from the album will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, which was founded by the Swedish artist’s family. The Tim Bergling Foundation will raise money for a variety of causes including mental health and suicide prevention.

In a statement, the family says, “Tim wanted to make a difference — starting a foundation in his name is our way to honor his memory and continue to act in his spirit.”

Let us know if you’re looking forward to hearing the new Avicii music in a tweet.
