After collaborating with pop’s sweetheart Charli XCX on the incredible ‘Lock It’, Kim Petras is back with a mammoth collaboration with Lil’ Aaron. Faded is the latest release from the German singer, and as always with any of Kim’s releases we’ve become offically obsessed.
The music video is directed by Nicholas Harwood and it truly is everything a pop classic should be. Kim has several incredible outfit changes in the video (her outfits come from the hottest designers MaryMe-JimmyPaul, Christian Cowan and Chromat) and the whole video is infectiously colourful. Kim brings some of the hottest dance moves in the video, reminding everyone exactly why she is tipped to be the next big performer.
The song itself is essential to every playlist as it’s fun and powerful. As soon as we heard it for the first time it made us feel empowered and left us wanting to dance. Lil’ Aaron’s feature on the song adds another dimension of fun.
Kim says about the single Faded – “For a moment, I’d love for listeners to forget reality and have fun when they listen to me,” she leaves off. “They don’t have to think about anything negative. I hope they blast it in the cars or when they’re getting ready and want to feel fabulous. I hope it’s a soundtrack to their lives.”
Not only is Kim releasing music that we can’t get enough of and making statements in the world of fashion but she’s also become a role model to so many. At the age of 16, Kim was the youngest person to ever undergo gender reassigment surgery, and since then has inspired her army of fans to always be themselves. Kim subtly shows her bravery and journey in her music.
2018 is set to be a huge year for Kim. She’s already hit over 12 million streams on Spotify since August and we really can’t wait to see what is to come next from our newest music addiction (Hopefully her eagarly anticipated album).
