New Music Round Up – 16/05/17

Welcome back to another edition of CelebMix’s New Music Round Up!

This week’s New Music Friday was dominated by the release of some stellar albums and EPs, with Harry Styles, Paramore, and New Kids On The Block leading the pack. However, we also saw an influx of new single releases, from both established artists and well, some new kids on the block.

Just in case you’ve missed out on some of this week’s new releases, here’s 11 of the best which you need to check out!

Miley Cyrus – ‘Malibu’

Miley Cyrus is back with a new song called ‘Malibu’, which sees her return to her pop-rock roots. The stripped back offering is all about her love for her partner, Liam Hemsworth, and was written in the car on her way to her first day on The Voice. Produced by Oren Yoel, ‘Malibu’ is the first track to be taken from her forthcoming sixth studio album. The track is giving us all the summer vibes and we’re thrilled to finally have some new music from Miley – welcome back!

‘Malibu’ is available to stream and download now.

Calvin Harris – ‘Rollin’ featuring Future and Khalid

Mackenzie Sol – ‘Laugh’

Mackenzie Sol is a 16-year-old British triple threat. Skilled in dancing, acting and of course singing, he’s released an infectious new song called ‘Laugh’ which is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Written by John Feldmann (5 Seconds of Summer, Blink 182, Avril Lavigne), Martin Johnson (Ariana Grande, Pentatonix), and Johnathan Itch Fox (Megan & Liz), and produced by Adrian Newman (Michael Franti, Hedley), ‘Laugh’ is an uplifting, captivating pop anthem laid over reggae-inspired beats.

Lerumo – Atmosphere

Genre-bending artist Lerumo is back with another awesome track. ‘Atmosphere’ follows on from the release of his EP Twentyone Rebel, and shows yet another side to the artist. The track is a fusion of high energy pop, dance and EDM – a perfect track to play at full volume over the summer months.

‘Atmosphere’ is available here.

Fiona Silver – ‘Smoking Gun’

Fiona Silver is back with more new music ahead of the release of her debut album. ‘Smoking Gun’ is gritty, rocky and atmospheric, which suits the ‘revenge on a former lover’ theme of the song. Speaking about the song, Fiona said: “‘Smoking Gun’ is a cinematic journey into the mind of a scorned woman driving through the desert to kill her lover. It starts with an eerie whistle from afar and dives right into a heavy, visceral feeling; the grips of insanity. ‘Foot on the pedal, wind in my hair, backseat lover, did you think I don’t care?’ In the verses it dips down from the physical feeling of rage into the mental monologue that rises back up with electricity, as if your skin is on fire. It is the push and pull of a tortured mind.”

Bleachers – ‘Everybody Lost Somebody’

Bleachers have released a new track called ‘Everybody Lost Somebody’, which is taken from their highly anticipated second album Gone Now, which is set for release on June 2. ‘Everybody Lost Somebody’ as well as previously released tracks ‘Don’t Take The Money’, and ‘Hate That You Know Me’, are available as instant-grat tracks upon pre-ordering the album. If you fancy seeing Bleachers live, they will be returning to the UK on July 5 to play an intimate show at Bush Hall.

‘Everybody Lost Somebody’ is available here.

Justin Caruso – ‘Love Somebody’ featuring Chris Lee

Not only will this awesome song fill you with summer vibes, but listening to it will also help an incredible cause. Sam Void – ‘On My Mind’

Joy Crookes – ‘Bad Feeling’

‘Bad Feeling’ is the self-penned new single from 18-year-old Joy Crookes. Produced by Tev’n, ‘Bad Feeling’ is a soulful, tongue-in-cheek look at finding the splendor in life’s hardest moments. She says: “We’ve all experienced temptation. ‘Bad Feeling’ describes the feeling of being on the edge of temptation but never falling. I wanted to make the song slightly tongue in cheek because when you do get out of the situation you realise how silly it all was…”.

JIM – ‘Under Attack’

Norwegian pop artist JIM has released a new single through Warner Music, called ‘Under Attack’. The epic pop anthem incorporates playful electronics and huge euphoric choruses, and follows the release of JIM’s debut single ‘On and On’ earlier this year. We’re obsessed with this electro-anthem!

‘Under Attack’ is available here.

Bianca Ryan – ‘One Day’

‘One Day’ is the amazing new song from Bianca Ryan, the original winner of America’s Got Talent. All the way back in 2006, an 11 year old Bianca rose to fame as the winner of AGT, and she’s been on a rollercoaster ride ever since. ‘One Day’ is the first track from her upcoming EP and marks her return after having surgery on her vocal chords which actually left her with an increase in her vocal range. Having worked with an array of incredible writers, Bianca is ready to take on the world with her new era of music.
