Almost three years on from his last solo release, Niall Horan confirms his long-awaited return to music today (January 26th) with the news he is to drop his brand new single ‘Heaven’ on Friday, February 17th 2023.
Co-written by Horan along with John Ryan (Shawn Mendes, Maroon 5, Rita Ora) and Joel Little (Lorde, Years & Years, Ellie Goulding), with production from Little along with Tobias Jesso Jr., the track was recorded in Southern California and will available to purchase on 7” vinyl and CD, as well as digitally.
Of the track, Horan says in a press statement: “One thing I’ve learned over the years is that society loves to pressure us into reaching certain milestones by a certain age. Whether that’s getting married or anything else that really should be based on our own instincts. As I’ve gotten older I’ve tried to let go of those expectations and just follow my heart. The chorus of this song is saying that what I have in my life currently is amazing. So it would be crazy to ruin that by giving into outside pressures.”
Having originally teased the songs existence on TikTok, where his posts have amassed over 100 million views since October 2022, hype surrounding it’s imminent release reached fever pitch this past week as fans around the world began receiving boxes containing a candle, lyrics from the chorus of “Heaven” and a QR code that led to heavenwontbethesame.com.
Following the singles premiere first play next month, Niall will make his festival debut at Boston Calling in May, followed by appearances at Pinkpop in the Netherlands and the legendary Isle of Wight Festival ini June.
Away from music, Niall will join The Voice in the USA as a new coach for Season 23, which premieres on March 6th on NBC.
‘Heaven’ is available for pre-order now. The 7” vinyl and CD editions will be released in April.
