Self-proclaimed golf fanatic and One Direction member Niall Horan is teaming up with friend and pro-golfer, Justin Rose to raise money for Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens.
The event will begin with a gala on the evening of May 29th. Chef Jamie Oliver will be catering the evening, and Olly Murs, a friend of Horan’s, will be performing live. The Horan & Rose Gala Event will carry over to the following day with a pro-am golf event, in which the winner will receive a prize.
In a statement released to the press, Horan expressed his excitement for the gala:
“I’m thrilled to team up with Justin to host our first Horan & Rose Gala event, it’ll be great to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens, a charity I feel very strongly about.”
Rose echoed Horan’s sentiment in a statement, telling of his excitement to be working for a great cause that will save lives.
“Teaming up with my good friend Niall is exciting, Niall is helping bring the game of golf to a brand new audience which will only help encourage more young people to take up the game. It’s set to be a great couple of days.”
The pair uploaded the same images to Instagram Monday morning to promote the event.
Horan is no stranger to charity work having organized a celebrity football event back in 2014. The event raised over $300,000 for four different charities and was a massive success. Of course, he’s also associated with the many charities that One Direction worked with as a group, such as Action 1D, Believe in Magic, and Comic Relief, to name a few.
Though he and lads of One Direction are on hiatus, the giving never stops when it comes to the Mullingar native.
