Australian born, London based singer/songwriter Nick Kingswell releases his new single “Homesick.”
“Homesick” is a nostalgic song, where he is reminiscing on his love for his hometown and the people and memories he left there, while simultaneously revelling in his new life in England. A churning, pit-of-the-stomach feeling that we all experience from time to time, Kingswell speaks about yearning for his home, but knowing deep down that he’s made the right decision in moving away. The musician tells his story through honest lyrics and organic soundscapes, bringing a raw and unfiltered delivery to “Homesick.”
Captivating listeners with each and every word, the Australian artist has formed a relatable song, acting as a shoulder to cry on for others going through similar struggles of missing their loved ones. Despite his strong feelings, Kingswell shares, “I love living in the UK and I feel equally as lucky to get to go home to a place like Phillip Island. It’s the best of both worlds. But the feeling of being homesick comes and goes. It’s like that whole idle hands idea. As long as I’m busy and happy and in touch with my family regularly, I can make it work.” His soothing words of wisdom provide comfort, assuring us that everything will be ok.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Bon Iver and James Vincent McMorrow, Kingswell has whipped up his own take on indie folk and found his own voice. Digging into the deepest corners of his mind and soul, Kingswell has pulled out some remarkable and thought-provoking material to warm even the coldest of hearts. Listening to the music of Nick Kingswell is like sonic therapy – it will blow away any worries and leave you feeling at one with yourself.
“Homesick” is off of the upcoming album Brontide, due later this year and we cannot wait!
