She said that this wasn’t the end of her, and gosh is she right. Nikki Ambers is not going to let her elimination from The Voice UK Battle Rounds series eight bring her down, and the release of this brand new single is certainly proving she deserves the spotlight. She’s teamed up with Ferreck Dawn and Robosonic for this incredible track titled “In My Arms”.
Nikki Ambers, real name Nicole Shortland, has had previous success before she appeared as a contestant on The Voice UK series eight, during the time on the show it was mentioned that she was part of girl-trio Soundgirl, but there was no mention of her previous fame under the stage name Little Nikki, which she said goodbye to at the end of 2017 when she dropped the soulful single “Memory“. As Little Nikki, she collaborated with Maxsta on track “Wanna Go” and she also featured on the DJ Fresh vs TC track “Make U Bounce”; both tracks made it onto the UK Singles Chart, the former at number 48, and the latter at number 10. She also had solo hits such as “Little Nikki Says” which charted at number 53, the song was also used in an advertisement for Boohoo.com; she also charted with “Right Before My Eyes” at number 140, which was a collaboration with DJ S.K.T, which was a cover version of the Patti Day song which was made famous by garage group N’n’G.
This single release sees her collaborating with Ferreck Dawn and Robosonic. The former’s real name is Freek Coppens and he has been a DJ for over 16 years, gaining hits such as “Love Too Deep” and “In My Arms”. He has also gained many Beatport Top 10’s. As for the latter DJ, Robosonic – real name Cord Labuhn – he has released a number of tracks under various names and he is also a part of the duo Punchi. He has topped the Beatport charts a number of times under the Robosonic name with “Worst Love”, “The Edge”, “La Fique”, “House Music”, and “Rise”. Both DJs are making their stamp on the music industry and we can’t wait to see where their careers take them.
Listen To Ferreck Dawn, Robosonic & Nikki Ambers’ New Song “In My Arms” Here:
The song itself was written by Cord Labuhn, Ferreck Dawn, and Nikki Ambers. It’s tuneful from the very first second as Nikki Ambers gives us a hint of her incredible voice with the subtle hook before jumping right into the first verse. Her voice perfectly suits dance music as she shows off with her range and vocal technique. We’ve certainly missed her voice on a club track as the years have gone by, and this is just simply magic. The spotlight is on her voice and it’s undeniably impressive.
As for the backing track, Ferreck Dawn and Robosonic easily impresses giving us a trance/house vibe that is sure to dominate dancefloors up and down the country. It’s near-to-impossible to sit or stand still all the way through this track with the unstoppable beat, rhythm, and the slight instrumental twists that keep us engaged. This is one unforgettable track.
“In My Arms” is available to download and stream right now via Defected Records. An “Extended Vocal Mix” is planned to be dropped on 29 March 2019 – we cannot wait to hear this extended version as this 2 minutes 36 seconds track is just not long enough.
