Indonesia’s first global pop girl group, no na, have officially arrived with their debut full-length album, island girl, out now via 88rising.

To celebrate the records release, the four-piece – Baila, Shaz, Christy and Esther – have also unveiled “speaker freaker the long song”, a nearly 15-minute musical and visual journey that brings the world of ‘island girl’ to life. Seamlessly blending eight songs, the track features global viral hit ‘rollerblade’, ‘work’ and seven previously unheard songs from the album.

Filmed across multiple locations in Indonesia, including Jakarta and Yogyakarta, the accompanying visual showcases the country’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities and rich cultural heritage through no na’s perspective. It serves as a fitting introduction to a project that places the group’s Indonesian identity at its centre.

From the metallic pulse of ceng-ceng percussion in ‘work’ to the chimes of gamelan woven into ‘rollerblade’ and the staccato sound of a minibus horn on ‘honk!’, Indonesian culture is embedded throughout the LP. Even the group’s name is rooted in their heritage, playing on the Indonesian word for “young lady”.

Across its 15 tracks, ‘island girl’ introduces a genre the group have dubbed Island Pop – a sound that draws on the tropical warmth of their home country while blending it with global influences including ’80s R&B, dangdut, new jack swing and synth-funk.

The album explores flirtation, femininity and friendship, treating each as equally worthy subjects while allowing no na to carve out a distinct space within global pop.

Since releasing their debut single in May 2025, no na have rapidly built an international following. The group have amassed more than half a billion streams, climbed global charts and generated more than 1.1 billion views on YouTube, alongside nearly five billion views on TikTok.

With ‘island girl’, no na are expanding that momentum into a fully realised musical world – one where Indonesian culture isn’t simply part of the story, but the starting point.
