There are people who feel that ‘coming out’ is an important step towards claiming one’s sexual identity. But there are others according to whom, one can live without labels. Maise Williams is one of them.

In an interview with Nylon, the Game of Thrones  actress talked about a lot of things. While talking about ‘labels’ becoming the index by which everything is seen and perceived, Williams said,

“It is quite a natural thing for teenagers to be confused,” she says. “There is a label for everything now, which is okay because some people need labels.”

Maisie gave Shailene Woodley as an example to explain her perception of sexuality. She said,

“I’ve never sat up and thought about my sexuality for hours. It’s like what Shailene Woodley said: ‘I fall in love with personalities and not people or genders.’ I have no problem with anyone who would want to be labeled, but I also think that it is no one’s business.”  She adds, “Do what you want.”

Talking about fame and her celebrity status, Williams said that while she respects her fans, she would decline a request of taking pictures with them if she doesn’t feel like taking one.

“I still don’t feel like I owe anyone anything,” she says. “If I don’t want a picture one day, I don’t have a problem saying no. I know some people get really weird about that, like, ‘You’re so mean.’ But if I was really in love with someone, I wouldn’t just want a picture. I would want to hang out with them.”

In her recent interviews, the actor has not only spoken about fame and sexuality, but has also expressed her anger about adults’ views on teenagers. The 18-year-old actress has been vocal about social issues and the fact proves the adults’ views quite hollow.

“People think we’re f**king stupid and we don’t know anything about anything,” she told Dazed. “It’s really degrading. I get a lot of adults who are like, ‘You don’t know s**t,’ and it’s like, ‘You don’t know s**t. You have no idea what it’s like to be 17 years old.’”

If you think celebrities, and especially the young brigade, are ignorant, Maisie Williams is not gonna have any of it.
