In a whirlwind of a day, not only did One Direction release a new music video and reveal a new EP full of goodies – including a brand new song and a collaboration with Lunch Money Lewis – but the lads also had a tough few hours prior to the music.
The team behind the music maestros made a statement at the boys’ scheduled show in Belfast, announcing that Liam Payne of the band had fallen ill and the boys were unable to perform last night.
Promptly after the opening act finished their set, an official representative walked on stage to address the sold out crowd. On the concert screens in the SSE Arena, an official address reiterated his words:
The show tonight has been cancelled as Liam has taken ill, and whilst not serious, he is unable to perform tonight…
All is not lost. The statement also asked for fans to hold on to their tickets, as a future arrangement will possibly be made.
While many fans are disheartened at the cancellation, they are more worried for Liam’s health and well-being (and that of the other boys, too). There have been rumours flying around the Internet regarding the details of Liam’s sickness – but most should be taken with a pinch of salt. As of yet, nothing has been officially confirmed in regards to the details of the illness.
The three remaining boys of One Direction have tweeted out well wishes to their band member. All of them have expressed their apologies to the fans, saying “unfortunately these things happen” and “it was out of our control”.
This is the first show that the music stars have had to cancel since their formation in 2010.
However, the show is the least of their worries, as Liam will need every morsel of support – no matter what he is battling. We’re wishing Liam a quick recovery from his mystery illness, and we hope that the boys will be back on their feet, happy and well again soon.
Now, we’re waiting for a further statement to be made come morning in Belfast.
To tide over your worries, let’s break the VEVO record by watching the “Perfect” music video!
