Liam, Niall, Harry, and Louis are no strangers to massive support and kindness from their fan base. It’s an incredible thing to see fans come together to show so much love and give back to a band that’s given them everything. The boys of One Direction, as we’ve said before, are more than musicians to their fans – they’re part of a journey together; they’re part of a team.
Part of being a team means bringing light and encouragement to one another and while One Direction is currently on a hiatus, their fans have decided to pay homage to one of the most incredible songs in One Direction’s discography – Home.
Home is a song that means the world to fans of One Direction, and even non-fans who have managed to come across the tune and hear it’s incredible message. While the lyrics of the song mean something special to everyone who hears it; the underlying message of Home is safety, love, and acceptance.
We talked about what Home means to fans on the 1 year anniversary of it being written and it comes as no surprise that #ProjectHome starts only days later. The project is simple and mirrors something else fans did for One Direction – specifically Louis – only months ago with Project No Control. There was an initiative within the fan base, a ‘fan release’ of the song, and not long after that, No Control went on to win a TCA – without ever being an official single!
ProjectHome has a thunderclap where you can join in and show your support on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. Your linked account will auto-populate a tweet or status on April 29th and with enough supporters the project will trend which means – more involvement! Every person who signs up for the thunderclap will help make this possible, it only takes a second!
If you want to find out more ways to support ProjectHome, visit their Tumblr; the team has worked hard and laid out what you can do every day between April 23rd and May 28th – there are even daily and weekly prompts!
It’s easy to see why Home means so much to so many people, and we agree that it deserves way more recognition than it got – we’d certainly love to see it be sitting at the number 1 spot!
If you sign up for #ProjectHome tweet us at @CelebMix1D and we’ll retweet your part in the project! We can’t wait to see what this creative fan base comes up with, and to throw ourselves into saying thank you to One Direction for such an incredible song at the same time.
