It has been more than a week since One Direction surprised us all with their brand new single, ‘Drag Me Down’. The US sales, streaming, and radio play numbers are finally counted, and they spell nothing but roaring success – ‘Drag Me Down’ has debuted at No. 3 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, bested only by The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’.
And that’s not all! Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall now also hold the highest debut of 2015. The last track to skyrocket the chart was Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’, which debuted at No. 1 in September 2014.
Take a look at the chart here.
‘Drag Me Down’ is the band’s first track without former band member Zayn Malik, and also the first taste of their upcoming fifth album, expected to be released later this year.
Though critics have said that enthusiasm for One Direction is finally winding down, the numbers speak for themselves – and they predict a very bright future for the quartet.
Congratulations, boys!
