Our favorite boy band has been around for over five years and the official One Direction Instagram has been sharing photos of their journey over the last four. Today, there are over 700 photos and 13.4 million followers that have been steadily growing over the years. The number gets higher with every passing moment.
Scrolling down the page sends us on a stroll through memory lane. From Up All Night to On the Road Again, from #Bring1DtoUs to #1DOrlando, from when there were five member to when there are four, the 1D Instagram captures it all.
10. Then and Now…
This is a major throwback that still gives us feels every single time we see it. It represents how far the boys have come in the past five years. Started from the bottom now we’re here –courtesy of Drake – is exactly what happened. No one could have imagined that this boy band would become this successful, but somehow, they managed to find a way to make it happen. The caption reads, “Then and now…” Oh, how our hearts are hurting. One Direction grew up in front of our eyes and sometimes we fail to realize that. Do you remember those Up All Night outfit changes they had? Those were the days we truly miss, but the boys now are still the same people we all loved a few years back, just more mature!
9. A Whole Lot of History
When One Direction performed “History“ on The X Factor Finale before their hiatus, everyone was emotional. Who wouldn’t be when the crew presented a slideshow of the band together (yes, including Zayn) through the past five years as they continued to sing their smash hit? It was truly a beautiful moment for them to reflect on the amazing adventures they had together as a band and also with the fans. Although some people may think that this performance was like every other, we know that is not true. There was something there, even a picture shows it all. A picture is worth a thousand words, but this one could be worth millions! Love, love, love this picture.
8. Work it.
There’s always something about a black and white picture that makes it extra *insert heart eyes emoji* – not to mention Harry Styles and Liam Payne in the picture, too?! That’s what we live for! This photo was taken as the boys rehearsed for their On The Road Again Tour (OTRA) with the caption, “Excited much?” As we all know, OTRA was super successful and many memories were made throughout the entire tour. Another thing, Harry in this picture is so adorable. Hair up in a man bun, singing his favourite songs and dancing around stage, you can tell how much he puts into a performance every night. Go our boys!
7. Their Point of View
Another black and white picture that’s equally as beautiful. If not, maybe even more! This is our family: Louis, Liam, Harry, Niall and the fans. It’s us showing our support while they perform their hearts out every night to make everyone, including themselves, happy. In the picture, you can tell that they’re doing their own things individually yet coming together as one beautiful combination. Also, this photo shows the perspective of what One Direction see everyday on tour. Every day they get to meet and see so many faces and get amazing opportunities that none of them can ever take advantage of. Who could possible hate any pictures of the boys?
6. Nobody, Nobody
There’s something about the boys and their orange suits that really gets to us. Some fans were not able to grasp the concept of “Drag Me Down” music video, but it was actually quite meaningful. There was a double meaning in the lyrics compared to the video. In the music video, they were trying to escape gravity – the only force that was really dragging them down. Also, isn’t it cool that One Direction is the first band/artist to film a single at NASA? Just another reason why “Drag Me Down“ is so special!
5. Hollywood Blvd Takeover
Promo Season flew by really fast for California fans. Almost a whole week of events were planned for L.A alone. Over 6000 fans in Los Angeles, California made the trip to witness One Direction make history in person at a live concert planned by Jimmy Kimmel. It was a tremendous event that lead to the blocking of a large chunk of Hollywood Blvd.
During the Jimmy Kimmel Live concert, the One Direction boys sang four songs from Made in the AM, along with No Control. They made it sure to emphasize the fact that it was for the fans, as well as acknowledged the #NoControlProject. It was a great day for everyone involved. Way to kick Promo Season off with a bam!
4. The London Session
One Direction: The London Session was covered by Apple Music and premiered in separate, different episodes. Fans were invited to see the boys perform tracks off the album and watch a very joyful – interesting – interview with James Corden.
The One Direction Instagram did a great job of keeping fans updated. A photo was shared after every episode was posted, and there were also exclusive photos live from the event. It was an intimate concert that was created especially for their fans, no matter where you were in the world.
3. #Action1D
Harry, Louis, Liam, and Niall are known for their big hearts and wide smiles.
In 2015, the four boys got together to participate in a large movement to make a difference. #Action1D consisted of several challenges to get fans involved. Huge differences were made – from the promotion of equality to increased awareness of climate change.
Can these four boys get any more admirable? One Direction have proven that they are more than just pretty faces, but that they are first and foremost genuine and caring.
2. Pre-Tour Ritual
Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to work we go!
How lucky are the four of them to consider singing their hearts out on stage their job? Honestly. That’s how far talent and Fate can take you – performing to thousands of people at the Sheffield Stadium. Although we can never achieve such amazing heights, we can witness the boys backstage getting ready because that’s how far the 1D instagram can take us – behind-the-scenes.
Big love to the boys. Seriously.
1. Made in the A.M.
The One Direction Instagram has always been great at promotion, but their most important post to date was this lovely video.
Their first album as a foursome was something new, exciting, yet scary to all the fans. However, fear didn’t stop the fans from pushing album sales and getting Made in the A.M. to be Number One in the UK. The boys were ecstatic at the news and took to Twitter and Instagram to thank fans. Funnily enough, the thanks were just redirected back to them. Just watch the video and look at them! Look at how proud at them for releasing their fifth album. Look at their silly faces and their big smiles. After all, that’s all that really matters to the fans.
The One Direction Instagram account has proven to be a great way for fans to be updated on all the happenings in Harry’s, Niall’s, Liam’s, and Louis’ adventures. We have made some great memories together, and we will definitely continue making history together. Never mind the 18-month-hiatus, the four boys will still be around for us on Instagram.
We can’t wait to see what the One Direction Instagram has in store for us in 2016!
