Kylie Minogue has sold over 80 million records worldwide, is a Grammy and BRIT award winning artist, has been honored as the best selling Australian artist of all time, was awarded an Honorary Doctor Of Health Science degree, has been cited as an influence in musical terms by artists such as Lady Gaga, Destiny’s Child, Madonna, Katy Perry, etc – we could keep the list going on and on but we’ll stop so we can all catch our breath a bit.
You may not have heard the news recently, but Kylie Jenner (from Keeping Up With The Kardashians) is trying to trademark her name for “entertainment in the nature of providing information by means of a global computer network in the fields of entertainment, fashion and pop culture”. But Kylie Minogue stepped in!
See, Minogue has had for decades been in the entertainment biz and has networked in many fields besides music such as fashion and just pop culture in general.
Overall Kylie and lawyers have stepped in and claimed on document that the whole trademarking would insinuate “claims of likelihood of confusion, dilution by blurring and dilution by tarnishment”. (check out a snap of the claim below)
Overall, we understand Kylie Minogue’s action behind this and others on Twitter have supported her as well. But again, if you look back at all the many accomplishments Minogue has achieved (remember our lovely first paragraph?) then you can see why the trademark by Jenner isn’t necessary.
Kylie Minogue has been an LGBTQ advocate ever since the start of her career, heck she even has her own wax statue in London at the famous tourist place Madame Tussauds. Her influence around the world has been marked and placed in history. She is the true definition of an international POP icon – the princess of pop music really.
