One-minute charity supporter films will be released every working hour to mark Giving Tuesday (3rd December), the world’s biggest day of giving, and raise awareness of the lifechanging work charities do.

Reason Digital, a digital social enterprise, has invited service users from its charity partners – Parkinson’s UK, Baggy Trousers UK, Muscular Dystrophy UK, Together Trust, WellChild and RAF Association, to create #ChosenCharity mini-films to engage viewers and explain how these charities make a difference.

Films have also been developed by individuals who have accessed charity support such as Torie Robinson who discusses the care she received from Mind, Epilepsy Research UK and Epilepsy Action; JJ who thanks Mind and Nathan Duncombe whose son, Henry, has Dravet Syndrome, severe myoclonic epilepsy, praises the work of Dravet Syndrome UK.

Each film will promote the life-changing work a specific charity does through an individual’s story. Videos, which will be available on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and viewers are encouraged to share them across all platforms and donate as part of #GivingTuesday.

Matt Haworth, the co-founder of Reason Digital, said:

“We want to raise awareness of how charities make a crucial difference to real lives. We’re doing this in the most effective and authentic way we know how – through the stories of experts with lived experience.

Andrew, who was diagnosed with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy at the age of 19 is asking givers to back his #ChosenCharity – Muscular Dystrophy UK. He commented:

“Having a neuromuscular condition like muscular dystrophy means you’re never quite prepared for the challenges to come. Having a child and being a disabled father didn’t prepare me for what the future had in store for me.

“The mental health aspect was important to me. Muscular Dystrophy UK’s campaign called ‘Mental Health Matters’ was great as I met others who were going through exactly the same things I was. There needs to be better mental health support, so I’m putting a shout out to anyone who can make that a possibility.”
