Vancouver-based singer and DJ Felitche, aka Felitche Hutchinson, premieres his new single today on CelebMix. A standalone single, “Come To Life” follows his 2018 EP, My Sound, which streamed more than 20,000 times in the first week.
Felitche’s first major breakthroughs occurred in modeling and professional sports. Despite those successes, he couldn’t quell his passion for music, an innate attraction he found overwhelming. In pursuit of his dream, he followed his urge to Toronto, the beating heart of Canadian music.
After releasing a series of singles, in January 2018 he dropped “One More Shot,” garnering more than 400,000 spins on Spotify and over 1 million streams across all platforms. His magnetic sound has resulted in a dedicated international fan base in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia.
“Come To Life” opens with penetrating synths, followed by a Jovian thumping groove flowing into surfacing synths and rapid-fire percussion. A massive slapping bass line propels the muscular rhythm, low-slung and banging. The measured pulse of the tune is heavy and pervaded by dark energy offset by piercing colors. Echoing vocal harmonies infuse the music with depth and tight resonance.
On the breaks, oozing spectral colors waft from the synths prior to a hip-hop-lite flow flavored with potent dance textures. Felitche’s voice alters from melodious to a smooth rapping delivery that’s sensuously tough. The range of his voice is remarkable, traveling from compact rapping to a scrumptious falsetto.
The feel of the song is akin to radioactive fallout, emanating a wickedly delicious glow that’s both seductive and beguiling.
The lyrics are cap-a-pie intense with surging appeals to “come to life.”
“Come to life / A thousand dancing lights / With our hands up in the sky / So free / Be my high / Escape the simple life / Even only for a night / Come to life.”
“Come To Life” is outstanding, emanating dark, reckless dynamism. Felitche has it going on.
