Randy Ginny Luke and Taylor Graves premiere the music video for “Take You On A Trip” on CelebMix. Co-written and co-produced by Luke and Graves, who duet on the track, the song narrates the sublime experience of young love.
Explaining the video, Luke says, “The music video for ‘Take You On a Trip’ is an expression of young love and conveys each lover’s experience as a ‘trip’ or a journey to transcendence. This song encapsulates a moment of time and a love experience in my life that I wanted to write about to preserve the memory forever. It shows a side of myself that is softer, which you can hear vocally, and visually feminine and blissful. The electric violin and keytar duet represents the two lovers in the story.”
Recognized as “Ginny from the block,” Luke, an electric violinist and singer, hails from Dubuque, Iowa. Trained in classical violin, piano, and dance in Vilseck, Germany, from the age of three, she later studied music and acting at Interlochen Arts Academy, Musician’s Institute, and the California Institute of the Arts, performing at Carnegie Hall when she was 16-years-old.
Since then, Luke has performed and recorded with Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dog, J. Cole, Miguel, Daniel Caesar, Amine, Dave Matthews Band, Iggy Azalea, Ruben Studdard, and Stevie Wonder, along with appearing on the American Music Awards with Nicki Minaj, Skylar Grey, and Shawn Mendes. She also played, recorded, and toured with Meat Loaf’s band, The Neverland Express. From near the end of 2018, until May 2019, Luke was the lead vocalist and electric violinist on Questlove’s international 4UPrince Tour.
“Take You On A Trip” opens on creamy undulating colors flowing into a delicious R&B melody laced with sumptuous pop flavors. The supple yet potent rhythm rides a measured trap-lite beat crowned by the hefty vibrations of a plump bassline.
Luke’s gorgeously luminous voice infuses the lyrics with buttery sensual textures, imbuing the lyrics with erotic savors and hints of rapping flow. When Graves’ velvety falsetto enters, the music glows with seductive timbres. As the two voices blend, the tune exudes intoxicating washes of indulgent sultry colors.
