Rebecca Black became a viral sensation back in 2011 for her highly criticized hit “Friday.” Now, she is ready to embark on a fresh, acclaimed musical journey.
Although Black’s comeback track “The Great Divide,” peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Club Songs Chart earlier this year, her latest bop, titled “Foolish” is truly proof that the singer’s days as a former Tosh.0 target are long behind her.
In this new single, a perfect pop tune for the summer season, the 19-year-old captures an array of emotions one faces when developing feelings for another. “My body’s tripping on you/ Feeling higher than the moon/ Got me trying something new/ Falling into you, foolish,” she sings on a flirty chorus.
Black has taken advantage of her media fame throughout the years, racking up over one million YouTube subscribers through song covers, makeup tutorials, style guides and more.
“‘Friday’ did give me great opportunities,” she told Paper magazine on her overnight, unexpected success. “I was able to work with Katy Perry. I won a Teen Choice Award. At the same time, I cannot tell you how difficult it has been over the past 5 or 6 years for people to take me seriously, to be completely honest. I have a great team and they help me. Sometimes people don’t want to take a second look. They only want to to stick to what they know you by. There have been people that I’ve been super lucky to work with and it has been really hard to get my foot in the door.”
Black is currently working on her debut EP she hopes to release in the coming months.
